SOFT TISSUE GINGIVAL GRAFT

TYPICAL SITUATION THAT CAN BENEFIT FROM GINGIVAL GRAFT:

1.  The gum on one of the front teeth had receeded and the root is exposed, causing persistent sensitivity.

If left untreated, it can also cause further erosion of the root, which consists of dentin-a softer, yellower, and more porous structure than the part of the tooth that is covered by enamel.

In addition, if the area of the receded gums is visible when that person smiles, the recession add negative esthetic effect.

2. Crown-lengthening surgery

Gingival graft is a tissue transplant treatment which regrow gum tissue where the gum has been lost.

Traditionally, a piece of healthy gum tissue is taken from another donor site of the same person's mouth and sewed over the area of receded gum. Usually takes 6-8 weeks to see the result.
